wheel, 8 MM larger than stock.
The Garrett turbo was designed for the 7.3 Power Stroke application
and has very quick response time for its size, plus it flows 33% more
air for more power and super cool EGT’s. In fact, pre-turbo EGT is
typically below 1200F on an otherwise stock engine with a fuel-enrichment
programmer in place. The new ported-shroud compressor housing, meanwhile,
eliminates the surging and popping problems that are commonly experienced
with the stock turbo. The Power Max’s ball-bearing design, while
not rebuildable, has proven to be very durable—or we wouldn’t
put the BD name on it.
The Power Max’s 1.00 A/R Dual Volute turbine housing features an
adjustable waste gate that responds quickly to low-engine rpm exhaust
pulses and has a Delta P exhaust back pressure to boost ratio that is
far more favorable than the stock turbo. In short, the Power Max is the
best-matched turbo system for the 7.3 Power Stroke in the industry!
